Strule Trust

Just to let members know that after securing the funding for the stretch around the Mellon Country Inn and the scheme being finished, two members of the Association have also been working hard for the Strule Trust as Directors and alongside 3 other Directors, using NASCO guidelines more funds have been spent on the upper reaches of the tributaries of the system.

Over £26,000 was spent on a section of the Ballinamullan Burn with works including :bank revettment, nursery beds, fencing and tree planting. This work as part of the Trust will be vital to enhancing the nursery and spawning areas of the River Strule and its Tributaries from Cappagh Burn upstream and with a severe lack of funding from Government it will be an important source of ideas and funding in helping maintain and hopefully grow salmon stock levels for years to come.

There are several more projects earmarked already this year and hopefully these will all be as successful as the first!
