Eddie(Minnow)Fisher

On behalf of the Officers,Committee and members of Omagh Anglers Association I would like to offer my sincere condolences to the family of Eddie Fisher who sadly passed this afternoon the 18th May 2026 in his 89th year.

Eddie was a club stalwart and was made an Honorary Lifetime member in 2016 for his services to fishing and Omagh Anglers Association.

it was him who talked me into becoming Association Honorary Secretary 22 years ago, a position I held until our last AGM. He went with me on several occasions to discuss rents with farmers whom he had befriended down the years and who had known him and his father Charlie down the years. He always was interested in the best things for Omagh Anglers Association.

Eddie knew the river well, he knew where salmon would lie in low water or where they would stop in high water. His knowledge about our rivers and especially the Drumragh River was immense and I hope I know half of what he forgot.

Even after he suffered a stroke several years ago he still turned up at the Associations AGM. He befriended many anglers down the years and was always quick to offer advice or at times to me telling me “that fly will catch you nothing”!

He will be sadly missed

Rest in Peace Eddie .
